While flying over the mountains of Maui, I saw this, and was reminded that when God restored the earth after the flood, He declared that whenever we see a rainbow in the clouds, it would serve as a reminder of His promise to never again destroy the world with a flood. Wrapped up in that promise are thousands of other promises of God. No matter the circumstances of our lives, no matter the obstacles we face, God sends rain to replenish the earth. Rain and the resulting rainbow also speak of God’s willingness to refresh our lives, renew our strength, and grant us new mercies—to give hope even in the seemingly hopeless situations.
