Like many remote areas in South Sudan, the Yida camp is not connected to a reliable source of electricity. Entrepreneurs with small generators step up these types of kiosks where phones can be charged for a nominal fee. Yida is a sprawling camp near the border between #Sudan and South Sudan that houses tens of thousands refugees from the embattled Sudanese state of South Kordofan (SK). Many come from the area of SK known as the #Nuba Mountains where the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-North—a rebel movement—continues an uprising against the Government of Sudan.
