"Shortly after Monterey Pop, [Jim] Marshall took #JanisJoplin for a photo session over to the Washington Street duplex where #GraceSlick lived with #Airplane drummer Spender Dryden downstairs (and Airplane guitarist Kaukonen lived upstairs with his wife). Slick kept a wooden wheelchair by the fireplace and an American flag hung on the wall. They were not really friends, but the two women knew each other from backstages and San Francisco. They had a lot in common besides both being the only females in otherwise all-male rock bands. They both liked to drink out of the bottle. Joplin preferred bourbon, either Wild Turkey or Southern Comfort, and Slick stuck with vodka. Glasses were always so hard to find backstage." From the book 'The Haight: Love, Rock and Revolution.'
