Today’s #FridayFigure is the victorious athlete known as the Westmacott Youth.
This young athlete’s slender body is shown off to good effect by placing the weight firmly on one leg. This tilts the pelvis and sends a sweeping curve through the torso. Beauty of mind, however, was as important as a beautiful body. The youth’s sexual parts are understated to reduce the erotic charge and heighten the moral imperative. And he glances down and away from the viewer, demonstrating his modesty.
