When I was 15, I was acting in school plays and discovered an old weathered copy of Miguel Piñero's play "Short Eyes" in the McAllen High School library. I didn't know anyone could write like that. Through Short Eyes, I learned that the stage belonged to all. Then I read Luis Valdez and saw John Leguizamo's one-man shows on HBO and was further inspired. I started writing plays, thinking that perhaps I had a place in the American Theater. I am beyond proud of the upcoming premiere of my play "Between You, Me and the Lampshade" with Teatro Vista in Chicago. It's been a long journey.
