The funeral of Yusef Hawkins — a black teenager who was shot to death after being taunted by a group of white youths in #Brooklyn — photographed by Eli Reed in 1989. A retrospective of Eli’s photos shows how the @Magnum Photos photographer has sought beauty and understanding of the human condition over the years. “I just kept working at things to try to understand where I was coming from,” he told the #Lensblog. “If you don’t try, nothing will happen. This world is so temporary, it would be nice that when we leave it, we leave something of substance behind.”
