Photo: @randyolson/@thephotosociety | On this current trip to Quito, I photographed Laron syndrome residents… but it wasn’t the first time… a few years ago I traveled to Loja with @melissafarlow to photograph these folks who are immune to cancer because they lack a key growth hormone that keeps them small but doesn’t allow cancer or diabetes later in life. This is Maria Jose in her hometown of Loja. She travels to Quito to participate in groundbreaking genetic studies on Laron syndrome by Dr. Jaime Guevara-Aguirre offering clues to all of us for longevity and even possibly a cure for cancer.
