Welcome to one of my most sacred rooms in Los Angeles. Among me are my brothers and sisters who have gone through the system of Juvinielle Halls and made it back out into society with purpose. Dedicated to live beyond hoods and history, we are relentless in the freedom of another chance. On Thursdays we meet here for a group called #insideoutwriters. We gather around our blank paper, crunch on some cheetos and release a mind full of whispers, memories and current events through spoken word, rap and poetry. Today, in a room that is a perfect mirror of harmony, we let the triggers of race flow in all our feelings. Holding nothing back, sparing no feelings or color. I have a lump in my throat for the gratitude I have for these young individuals and and world we share. The power of love can take over the love of power. We are at war inside our freedom land, I don't know how to fix it, but I believe in learning from our mistakes and the freedom in another chance... #progressnotperfection
