A Quaker Parrot secondary flight feather.
The iridescent green along the leading edge of this secondary feather is an example of #structuralcolor, in which the internal structure of the feather is what give is the hue seen by the eye. This kind of coloration is not exclusive to birds, but is one of two major ways that the natural world displays color: the color is either inherent in the object, or emerges from the refraction of light through the object.
