“There is so much beauty in our world, and I want my children to be a part of it and grow with it,” says Shelley Lawnikanis (@shelleylawnikanis), who lives in a small northern town in Australia’s New South Wales. A stay-at-home mom of two children, four-year-old Evie and two-year-old Orlo, Shelley is often reminded by her kids to slow down and enjoy the simple things that life has to offer. “I love to photograph my children outdoors in their natural element, and I mostly do so without their knowing,” explains Shelley. While she feels the joy of capturing the precious moments of her little ones, Shelley also believes in having a “no photo day” once in a while to purely enjoy her time discovering the world with Evie and Orlo. “I honestly can’t think of a better place to raise my children than where we are,” she admits. “Raising our family with a love and appreciation for the ocean is so important to us, and we are so blessed to be able to live on this beautiful coast. I couldn’t tell you the amount of times I’ve had comments on my photos from people saying that we live in paradise — and we really do.” Photo by @shelleylawnikanis
