With 5 minutes to spare @markstonephoto and I board the first of three flights to Angola, Namibia, and Botswana for @ナショナルジオグラフィック Mark is one of my oldest friends...with me from the beginning. He is a rare human...one who abandons ego in the pursuit of truth, both as a photographer and person. He keeps me rooted and sane on long assignments like this one to Africa. We have done Four assignments together and they have all been made better by Mark. We met 13 yrs ago as assistants to several fashion photographers in Seattle, one of whom taught us both that the best way to ensure the strongest team is to make sure that you are the weakest link...knowing that your limitations are covered by your partners means you'll never fail.
