32/100: trying new things :: my first #tribute :: to the #dragonfly who gave me its wings. The story behind the story from yesterday's #the100dayproject post: I woke up today heavy-hearted (sort of an understatement there) having to walk through the harder end of the human process. We all face that road and we all have to walk on it here and there throughout life. It would have been so much easier to just get on autopilot and sort of mindlessly coast through the day. But today I declined that option. Today I wanted to love myself and be the mirror we hope others will hold up for us when we're down and out. And we do need others to do that. Most definitely. We need connection and a good inner circle of support, and I am very blessed to have that. But sometimes we need to learn to pick up that mirror, the one that holds life and truth, and we need to hold it up for ourselves. Today I chose to love myself and hug my soul and tell it what it already knows but still needs to hear. I put on my favourite summer dress and hat and took my son to our magical secret spot in the wild wild woods for the first time in 2015. We found a wounded dragonfly whose wings were broken and we wanted to keep it company. We said a blessing over it and began to tell it of its beauty and it crawled on my hand and wouldn't leave. We thanked it for allowing us to share its space with us. The dragonfly wouldn't let me put it in the grass. It gripped the skin on my hand until it laid itself to rest. I felt honoured. I felt connected to this dragonfly, both of us experiencing the pain of when wings get broken. It trusted me to cradle it into its next life and somehow that brought healing and life back into me. The dragonfly gave its very last breath to me and set the sails back in my wings. It was more than magical. It was a miracle. And I felt loved by Love.? #100daysofnew #tryingnewthings #hobonichitecho #hobonichi #hobonichi2015 #hobonichiplanner #artjournal #sketchbook #sketch #doodle #todaysdoodle #doodleaday #doodleart #doodlersanonymous365 #doodlersanonymous #doodler #watercolour #watercolor #sennelier #illustration #thankful #artistsonig #artistsoninstagram #memories #misosoupland
