Whose side are you on? The side that has one purpose and that is to end these inhumane and horrific procedures- declawing and devocalization. Or the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association's side that wants to keep them legal so they can do these inhumane and money making procedures whenever they see fit. Their expert point man, Oregon DVM, Thomas Keck, who is also on their board of directors, testified at the hearing last week and said he had 10 cats in his household and he declawed ALL ten of them and the number one reason was for his "beloved antiques". Today is a BIG hearing on the bill HB 3494A that could ban declawing in Oregon. The way it is worded now though, it will keep these barbaric procedures legal and nothing will change. The OVMA loves this bill as it is and will do everything they can to try to have it passed as it stands. Please respectfully speak out and let them know that this bill has too many loopholes for these veterinarians and it is NOT a positive thing for animals. Declawing and devocalization should be completely banned NOW.
