Surf photographer Chris Burkard isn’t interested in blue skies and warm, sandy beaches. He prefers to step over chunks of ice on the coastline and ride waves other surfers consider too remote, cold and dangerous. Each photograph he takes is precious, because he is forced to earn every stunning shot.
