Native basket makers, photo by @peteressick on assignment for @ナショナルジオグラフィック. Three generations of weavers learn to make baskets from tule reeds at Tolay Lake in the northern San Francisco estuary. These members of the Southern Pomo and Miawok tribes are relearning the ways of their ancestors as part of an overall movement of "cultural restoration" in the Bay Area.
