"Everything about #DenisLeary screams cool. I've been a fan of his stand-up comedy since I was a teenager, and have followed his career ever since. I was thrilled to meet him in person and ended up taking this candid portrait of him at #Bonnaroo. I didn't even know he was gonna be at the festival, so I was happily surprised to find out he was promoting his new TV show on FX, 'Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll.' He attended the Bonnaroo press conference to discuss the show, and after that I introduced myself and asked if I could snap a shot of him, he said, 'Of course.' When we stepped out of the tent he lit up a cigarette right away. 'I thought you quit,' I teased him as I remembered many of his stand-up monologues are about smoking. 'Nah, I didn't,' he laughed. As I was shooting he tried to hide his cigarette under the table but I insisted on it being in the shot. It's just such a part of his style. I was going for a classic black and white portrait, and it came out just the way I saw it in my head, which is always a great feeling." As told to @Rolling Stone by photographer @danadistortion
