This past Thursday, I was given news that, at the time, felt like it was going to change the course of my career and everything that I have been planning for the next year. I've always seen in movies when someone would get news or a diagnosis and they would trance off and feel like they were caught in a dream, but I never knew what that was like, until now. I have a tendency to be a bit dramatic and exaggerate my circumstances at times, so I knew I needed to take a beat over the weekend and reflect on my life and what my next move would be. When something gets thrown at you that seemingly takes control of your life, you tend to get tunnel visioned. All I could think about were the projects and deadlines, my workout classes and videos. I fearlessly put all my eggs in one basket when I quit nursing school to open my company, and with that fact, comes immeasurable amounts of pressure that I place on myself. That pressure often causes me to lose perspective when I get overworked or stressed out. The expectations that I've set for myself have put me in a position where I feel like the only option that I have, is to succeed and anything that may otherwise be seen as a "bump in the road" becomes magnified in my mind. Today, I'm still digesting, but I wanted to share with you all a little piece of sanity that has grounded me over the weekend. Regardless of your circumstances and what you have planned for tomorrow, nothing is guaranteed. All of our stressing and worrying about tomorrow is often pointless because there's so much of the future that we cannot control or predict. Being able to adapt with the unexpected is what true champions are forged from. I don't know what tomorrow holds for me or the plans that I've been working on for the past six months, but I do know that I'll make the best of it. I have a loving and supporting family, a solid team who has my back in everything, and a loyal and amazing following who I've had the pleasure of connecting with over the past year on my tours. What more could I possibly ask for? Everything in life is about perspective. If all we focus on is the negative, then that is all we will see.
