The museum sits on land once occupied by the Orphan Girl (named because she stood away from the other mines). The “Girl” ran 24/7 in its heyday & produced more than 7,500,000 ounces of silver from 1875-1956—which amounted to 1% of all the silver produced in the area. Visitors can also climb the stairway inside the 100-foot gallows frame...and then head to @headframespirits for a taste of Orphan Girl, the distillery's signature cream liquer. #onassignment for @National Geographic Travel #inmontana #montanamoment @buttewmm
