Say hi to Homer. ??? I babysit him sometimes, such as yesterday morning, when I captured this photo. --------------------------------------------------- I found him on the edge of the sofa (his usual resting place). He was lying flat on his stomach, with his wrinkly, flat face and adorable smooshed nose resting between his two front paws. I stood above him, saying, "Homer--let's go outside." He didn't move AT ALL. Neither his head, nor body, moved but he did open his eyes. He stared straight ahead, avoiding eye contact. I got down on his level, forcing him to look at me. He blinked twice, then proceeded to stare blankly at me. His expression basically translated into, "Can I help you? You're not my dad. I don't have to listen to you. Let me sleep. Bye" (Homer is not what you would call a morning dog; he likes to sleep in). I stood up and said, "Homer, we are not doing this every single time. Let's go!" I had to take charge, be the alpha male, and raise my voice. After all, it's not like he's a toy poodle I can just pick up when he's being disobedient. He's an English bulldog: a stocky, solid mass of muscle weighing over 60 lbs! I said even more loudly, "Homer, get up." He knew I meant business at that point, so he finally started to move...into the position you see in the photo. I wanted to be frustrated and throw in the towel, but that face! How can anyone not be manipulated by that face?! So Homer won. Again. ??❤️
