Ramilaben Jayantibhai Rohit stands in a field of flowers at dusk with a solar lantern slung over her shoulder. Her story is incredible- since being abandoned by her husband, village and society for not producing any children after three years of marriage, she has become the president of SEWA, the Self Employed Women's Association, and has built up a constituency of 130,000 women- the largest in her state of Gujarat, India.

SEWA exists to empower and mobilize groups of women within the underrepresented, unorganized labor sector so they can become self-reliant and autonomous. As the leader of SEWA, Ramilaben rallies for women who, once like her, are being abused and cast out by society. This is the #rippleeffect.
