For some reason every one of my senses feels slightly amplified in Bangkok. Maybe it's because I'm generally jetlagged when I'm here, or perhaps it's the heat. Maybe it's just the way of life in Southeast Asian cities. The commotion of the traffic moves in a disjointed manner and the noise causes ringing in my ears, the lights sting my tired eyes, the smells are strong, overwhelming and always changing, and the food tastes spicier and more robust, making my nose run and eyes water. It's chaotic, alive, and different and a big part of why I love visiting this continent.
