I was waiting backstage. Lenny marched out with his whole band to the stage. The crowd was screaming. I went to follow with my all access pass and the guard said, "No photographers.” I slipped through a fence and ran around to the other side of the stage. I waved at Matt, the co-director of #afropunk, and he told the guard, "She’s OK." I slunk down against the barrier and started shooting. The guards returned and shoved out all the photographers. I stayed down low and managed to shoot for 5 songs before they found me and kicked me out too. Lenny told the crowd he was born in Bed-Stuy and it was the first time he had ever played in Brooklyn.
