Wildland firefighters, Charles and Jacob, from The U.S. Forest service working to clear stumps from a charred forest which were previously cut to slow the spread of the National Creek Complex in Crater Lake National Park. Naturally occurring wildfires in U.S. National Parks are generally left to burn unless structures or major features of the park are in jeopardy. The smoke is now clear and Crater Lake is fully operational. Over the next 8 months I'll be traveling to wild places photographing how younger generations are experiencing the National Parks for the Dec. 2016 issue. Next stop Glacier, MT around the end of Sept!
