Back when board and wax logos were apparently more important than your clothing brand. I surfed for #Sundek and #Oneill for most of my teen life and usually wore my rainbow trunks. My feet were too big for my wetsuit so I had to have those zippers on the ankles to get em thru. The jerseys were too big so I had to cross em over my neck to make em fit. This was at the #WorldAmateurTitles in #Newquay at #FistralBeach in 1986. #MarkSainsbury won the men's against #JeffBooth and I placed third in Junior's behind #Poto and #NickyWoods with @johnshimooka placing 4th. @quiksilver sponsored the event back then and it was the first time #JeffHakman and #BruceRaymond got to see me surf a few years before deciding to sponsor me. We stayed in this caravan park where you had to put coins in the heaters every hour or two to stay warm. #ChrisBrown was my roommate and his dad, Dave, and #BruceWalker were coaching. @andersenlisa was also on the team. I'll have to find that team shot somewhere. I remember the Japanese team had the coolest jackets and at the end of the trip a couple guys traded team jackets with them. Wish I had more of that stuff hidden away somewhere. #ThinkingOutLoud #HowSicksThatWaxJob?!
