With the fall equinox approaching in just a couple of days, I was thinking about the autumn last year, spent in Jackson Hole. Over here in California, we don't get an exceptionally colorful fall. While conditions are stunning and the whales are as active as ever, I still miss feeling that crispness in the air fall brings. Last year I got to watch the leaves change into a bright gold and orange and witness as animals adjusted for the upcoming winter season. I spent weeks watching the moose during the rut and I became quite familiar with this bull here, who constantly would chase off any challengers in his way. On this particular morning, during late fall, the air was chilled and a frost sat upon the sage brush. I can remember just how quiet it was as the bull tip-toed his way through the thorny maze.
