No thermometer is needed to tell us that #SoCal water temps have been abnormally warm the past few weeks. But what the thermometer does show us is that the temps have been record-breaking, and not just for Southern California. #CDIP buoys operated by #Scripps off the coast of California and Hawaii have set numerous temperature records this summer. A persistent weather pattern combined with a strong #ElNio led to these toasty temps, which are good for California surfers but ecologically damaging for Hawaii.
