We are honored to announce that First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama and First Lady of the People’s Republic of China Peng Liyuan named our giant panda cub! His name is Bei Bei, meaning “precious, treasure” and is complementary to his big sister Bao Bao’s name. Our collaboration with Chinese scientists to save giant pandas from extinction started after the state visit of President Nixon to China in 1972.
