Dawmu Ya (80 years old) has been wearing her neck rings since the young age of 10 (without removal). Padaung, her village, is a minority region of Myanmar that has had a long history of turbulent and violent conflict. Considering she has been in this region since the 1930's, it's both scary and amazing to think what she has witnessed through such a singular place in time. She was incredibly nice and visibly weak—yet she worked diligently to trim the Lac from the sticks that were collected earlier.
