Here's a nice little glute activation drill for you before training.
Glute bridge into a hip clams using a small resistance band placed just above the knees. Make sure your pushing your knees out to keep tension on the band during the glute bridge and drive your weight up through your heels to get maximum contraction. You can do 5 to 10 reps of each exercise, one straight into another, 3 sets. Don't forget to do both sides with the clam . Also control your tempo, this video has been speeded up to fit it what I could given the limited time frame.
Basic exercises like these can be boring but are essential to get those glutes firing before your main workout.
Give them a try. Bands are available from Amazon with different tensions.
