These children have no access to water of any kind during their school days. They bring bottles of unfiltered water from home, retrieved from a salty well in the forest a few kilometers away. The one toilet available in this school is an outhouse, basically a hole in the ground, it's door torn off its hinges lying a few feet away. I ask Keiner, this five-year old boy, how they feel about going to the bathroom when he's in school. He answered "I don't like it because people can see me, and it's smelly. I try to hold it so I can go at home." When I ask little Diana, who's 3, about washing her hands after she's gone to the toilet she laughs. What a silly question! "Lo hago en la casa! Con mi mamá!" At home, later, with mom. Water is a LUXURY not everyone is privileged with.
