Sorry to I interrupt your happy space but will you please join me and raise your hand or paw if you think the FBI should classify declawing as animal cruelty.
The FBI recently announced that animal cruelty will be a Group A felony and will be prosecuted as a crime against society. These are the 4 categories; simple or gross neglect; intentional abuse and torture; organized abuse; and animal sexual abuse, This classification will go into effect in 2016 and means those who harm animals will be placed in the same category as murderers and arsonists. Intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly taking an action that mistreats or kills any animal without just cause, such as torturing, tormenting, mutilation, maiming, poisoning, or abandonment is considered animal cruelty. By this new law, animals are no longer unfeeling pieces of property, but they are worthy, sentient creatures that deserve ample protection. Declawing is using an object, either a laser, scalpel or guillotine blade, to intentionally amputate, mutilate, maim, and torture a cat for the sake of a piece of furniture. It causes injury and sometimes death. This procedure inflicts excessive pain and suffering.
Personally, I think declawing is a crime against society AND Felinekind. Let me know your feeling on this and in the meantime I will ask the FBI.
