? rides in Nepal just aren't like back home!!! Just a few days ago #fishtailair flew into Makalu Basecamp at 18,700ft and picked us up, making for a swift exit out of #skimakalu2015. We flew right by Baruntse, Lhotse and Island Peak into the Khumbu Valley, landing in Pheriche to refuel. The pilot then told us to "try" doing the flight to Lukla in one load, meaning all 7 people and around 12 duffel bags taking off from 14,000ft. We just made it off the ground and the rest was mellow until we took off from Lukla for Kathmandu and discovered endless cloud cover. Swooping in and out of holes, trying not to lose sight of the ground, our pilot pulled out the "Comprehensive Trekking Map", plopped it in my lap, and pointed to some random towns to perhaps stop for fuel again because we'd used up so much trying to navigate around the weather. Obviously all was well and good and we made it safety to Kathmandu with nothing more than an exciting memory. @outsidemagazine
