That’s what will determine how far you go. - No one is born as the greatest of all time. We’re born a lump, unable to lift our own heads. We can’t talk or walk. Yet over time we can transform ourselves into something powerful. That’s not talent. That’s training. - You may have gotten out of bed this morning, but did you actually wake up? Do you have a plan to push your skills forward? The truth is most people don’t. Most people are coasting. They reach the bottom rung of competency and stop actively developing themselves. - Be intentional. Identify the specific skills that your goals require you to acquire. Write them down. Clarity is the key to success. Force yourself to practice at a level outside of your comfort zone. Focus! It won’t happen by accident. Make the demand of yourself to get better everyday. Track your progress. If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it. Remember, there’s a difference between doing something and practicing it. People use their skills every day, but they rarely intentionally practice them. Take your typing speed for instance. Chances are you’ve been typing at the same speed for years even though you do it every day. Disciplined practice with qualitative analysis. It’s the only way forward. - No coasting. If your dreams die, it won’t be at the hands of the haters. It will be because your hands remained idle. Don’t cheat yourself. Drive forward with all the intention in the world. Whether you ultimately unleash yourself upon this world and become an agent of change or wind up a paper weight is entirely up to you. Train your mind like an athlete trains their body.
