In "Our Brand is Crisis", out in U.S. cinemas today, Sandra Bullock bites into a meaty role, playing a political strategist hired to rescue the presidential campaign of an unpopular, elitist Bolivian candidate. Bullock plays a role that was originally intended for George Clooney, reshaping it to fit a likable star whose brand is playing professional women at home in a workplace of men.
TIME's Peter Hapak photographed Sandra Bullock for the magazine. "She had a strong presence," he says. "I wish we had a dance after the shoot."
