Embraced in Memory ~ As a child, I would sit in the backseat of the family car, often on long road trips with my mother and father. My parents were madly in love. Always chatting, laughing. Crafted as one in joy. In peace. Whenever meandering along roads of embracing trees, my mother would whisper in her heavy Viennese accent: “Shhhhh…we are entering the forest of my mother”. Too young at the time, I never understood what she meant. Simply obliging her tender tone with the respect these moments granted her. Years later, after my mother passed, I began to understand — more so, feel — the messages that intertwined her. This morning while driving through Richmond, MA, the memory returned. Sensing the tremor that often is perceived whenever I flow through the grand arms of nature, requesting internal dialogue to cease, able to embrace, understand, the messages that are only heard, in silence.
