Should kids know difference between a "bull" and a bear market?
The Pit, a card game developed by the Parker Brothers in 1904, gave young people a crash course in the open outcry bidding system of the commodity exchange at Chicago Board of Trade—popularly known as the "Pit." Just like in the real exchange, players were encouraged to shout and scream as they made deals and traded cards, all in an effort to "corner the market" on one of seven different commodities: wheat, barley, corn, rye, oats, hay, and flax.
The Bull and Bear edition of the game, dating between 1912 to 1915, gave players a boost or a serious penalty if they ended the round holding the Bull or Bear card.
