Encountered some interesting dishes on my trip in Korea. #Guesswhat they are? – LHL (Photo by me) ---------------------------------------------------
Some of you got them right! In the top row, on left, are snails, known as ‘sora’ or ‘godong’ in Korea. They are similar to what we call "chut chuts" or "siput sedut" back home. Next to the snails are some rice krispies.
In the second row, on left, are some barley which has germinated (like bean sprouts), being dried in the sun. It is one of the ingredients for making beer. And the last pic is of silkworm pupae, or ‘beondegi’, a popular snack in Korea. They can be either steamed or boiled, and are often served with alcohol! I did not try the beondegi, though I have tried fried grasshoppers before in Korea, and rather liked their crunchy texture and slightly spicy taste. Missed them this time. - LHL
