Tyson Fabers, who has schizoaffective disorder, started hearing voices when he learned that his girlfriend was cheating on him. The 41-year-old spent a total of 4 years between the Rikers Island jail complex and the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center in New Hampton, New York. Now, years later, he is taking medication. He works delivering packages for RDS Delivery Service, a company that makes a point of hiring people with disabilities. Tyson earns $8.75 an hour and works about 26 hours a week, using public transportation for his deliveries. Making ends meet is difficult, even with a monthly MetroCard provided by his employer and the $194 a month he receives in food stamps. But, he told @ニューヨーク・タイムズ, “I love the job. It’s like I’m a tourist in New York City.” @samuelhodgson photographed Tyson, who is working toward getting his commercial driver's license.
