#JoannaNewsom appeared in our October 22nd issues to mark the release her new album #Divers. She doesn't remember exactly why she wanted to be a harpist as a kid, but the instrument's steep formal challenges suited her hungry mind. "The strings resonate almost indefinitely until they're dampened," she explains.
