The H8FUL EIGHT: @@@@ ---ok, i got limited space so lemme get to a bigger point. my 1st year at NYU we taught about the concept of Canons. specifically i've been curious about "the power streak" of certain canons. some music examples if you will: most say the #StevieWonder cannon starts with 72's music of my mind til about 82's original musiquarium. although each offering from #TheBeatles is considered manna from heaven, their songwriting mastery hits paydirt somewhere between #RubberSoul and #AbbeyRoad. ---its kinda hard to call something a"masterpiece" when you are in the moment of its arrival. when #Prince's #AroundTheWorldInADay came out in 85 it wasn't like critics were backflipping like "our savior is here!!!!!"---actually they were rather lukewarm initially. however in retrospect, true fans of the P acknowledge something called "a genius period" so even though you won't see the evidence of critical adoration. you will now see revisionist theory in effect & people declare "it's a classic!!!!" just as it swears they been down for the Dirty Mind (80) to Lovesexy (88) period (lemme say as a dude aware back then, prince made it so hard to love him during this time)---to parallel it for film most will say #HATE8 is Tarantino film to the t---which can say its top notch or its painting by numbers. i say it's a storyteller in his stride. and its everything i love about his films: high brow, uncomfortable, ugly, heated, smart, dumb, cold, nasty, rich, shocking, predictable (i was wagering in my head when those gold #Benguiat fonts gonna make its cameo) some will not be pleased with this co-sign because when QT does turn on the ugly he goes full nelson (perhaps seeing this film on the day that #TamarRice's verdict came in has numbed me to even be shocked at the amount of "niggers" spewed (more than #djangounchained) or jennifer jason leigh's character (dont wanna spoil but....) should QT really go off the rails and lose focus (we've seen geniuses fall off the wagon before in music and film so its not far fetched) when we speak of the cannon streak, this film will indeed be included.
