The strikingly beautiful Oriental whipsnake is primarily diurnal and arboreal, living in humid rainforests like Danum Valley in the Malaysian part of Borneo where I took this photograph. Go to @mattiasklumofficial to meet the king of birds in the Borneo rainforest!
The whipsnake is mildly venomous and what is commonly termed as 'rear-fanged' meaning their fangs are located in the back of the upper jaw, instead of in the front as they are in vipers or cobras. Their diet consists mainly of lizards, but sometimes frogs and rodents are also consumed.
