1998. This is the Buddy Christ statue from #Dogma standing beside the sculptor of Buddy Christ, Dave Deneen. To build Buddy, Dave bought an old marble statue from a desanctified church and turned it into the thumbs-up Savior we know and love today. As you can see, Dave put himself into his work: he based Buddy Christ's face and expression on his own. People always say "Be more like Jesus!" Dave flipped the script and made Jesus more like him! Remember: Christ didn't come to give us the willies - so you can come see the Buddy Christ on permanent display at @jayandsilentbobstash.
