Snowmobile riders cruise down main street in Cooke City, Montana along the northeastern boundary of Yellowstone National Park. During winter months, the road out of Cooke City to the east is cut off and the only way in and out of the small town is through Yellowstone or by snow machine.

2016 marks the 100-year anniversary of the creation of the U.S. National Park Service. I spent the past year working in and around Yellowstone to understand the complicated relationship among residents, tourists, livestock and wildlife, all meant to share this magical space.
