First thoughts on the Pilot Metropolitan #fountainpen: 1) For $15USD, it is packaged very nicely in a metal flip top tin, cushioned well, and comes with a cartridge *and* a converter! The converter is a squeeze fill, but made very well and works great (unlike some other squeeze converters that don't at all). There is also a piston-filled available for separate purchase that fits this pen too. 2) The nib: Smooooooooooooth as silk. Even a bit more than my Lamy Safari and Kaweco Sport. I got it in a medium nib, which is said to be more like a fine, but I found this particular nib to write like a medium-fine. Did I mention smooth? 3) Comfort: the grip is smooth and feels nice, and the pen has some good weight to it. Feels lovely with the cap posted or unposted. 4) The look: its a classic cigar-shaped pen, which I'll be honest, is not initially my favourite style. But this comes in an array of cool colours, ranging from professional neutrals to fun bright hues. I decided on the Violet and really love this shade. Verdict: an outstanding workhorse pen. If you like a bit more weight to your pens, this is the one for you. I purchased this as my designated pen for my Platinum Carbon ink which is hard on pens. It takes to it wonderfully. Though I will say that I'm curious to see how smoother inks would be in this pen given how awesome the nib is. I think this would be an excellent writing pen. Available @jetpens and for $15 with a converter included and an ultra buttery smooth nib, you can't go wrong! [disclaimer: this review is my own, I received no gift or compensation for it but am sharing my own thoughts regarding a great product that I enjoy]
