A leatherback turtle feeds on a pyrosome (a free-floating colonial tunicate) in the pelagic waters off The Azores. Believed to feed only on jellyfish, this photo shows that this species might occasionally broaden their menu choices.
Leatherbacks are the largest and deepest diving sea turtle species and make the longest migrations. From the moment they enter the sea as hatchlings, they are in perpetual motion and never stop swimming.
