So I was more than a bit surprised when one stepped out of the Amazon bush and plunged into the river right beside my canoe, obviously preferring the cool water to the midday heat. It then proceeded to swim alongside us for a few hundred meters before turning back towards shore and leisurely climbing out of the water. At no point did I feel it was stressed by our presence; in fact, it was one of those rare, delicious moments when I felt utterly invisible, camera in hand and along for the ride. #tapir #amazonia #wildlife #brazil #brasil
