“It’s been super exciting to be with @OFF-WHITE C/O VIRGIL ABLOH from day one and translate the brand into a spatial experience. The first store was in Hong Kong, which is very much a concrete city, but it is surrounded by these natural, super lush, green areas, and we wanted to bring some of that back down to the street and offer a reprieve in your typical shopping street. It is a rather generous gesture for a commercial brand and speaks volumes for [Off-White founder] @ヴァージル・アブロー’s open mind. Part of Virgil’s intent is also to show young people what architecture and design can be and do. He studied structural engineering first because he didn’t know there was an architecture department at his school. So I think by constantly sharing the work we are doing together, this is his way of giving back to say, ‘Look, this can be a job. You can do this too.’”—Oana Stanescu.
