Futurist artist #GinoSeverini was born on this day in 1883. He lived in Paris and was greatly influenced by the city’s cafés, cabarets, and dance halls, which epitomized modernity to him. For Severini, dance was an ideal subject through which to study movement. From our collection, enjoy "Blue Dancer" (1912), which features metallic sequins as collage elements applied to the dancer’s dress that enhance the painted illusion of refracted light.
