Grasping at blessings. Smoke, the physical manifestation of prayer envelopes a passing hand in Kathmandu. The pungent, humanity affirming, often acrid aroma of life stacked upon life stacked upon life is thick in the valley. As tourists and climbers return after the tragic events of the previous two years, there seems to be a sense of forgetfulness that is at once intentional and timid. There is a hopefulness and a pervasive tension. @adrianballinger and I are headed into the Khumbu tmrw to acclimatize while we wait for the border to open...an unexpected change to the plan.
