Whoops! I didn't realize my last post got cut off. ? Part 2 of #NationalLibraryDay: (cont.) And while the library itself is magnificent, my most impactful moments were with librarians themselves. Let’s just say after that summer I started studying the dewy decimal system, seriously considering pursuing a career as a librarian. These librarians to me seemed anachronistic. Dazzling in their intellect, but completely unimpressed with themselves, these individuals were educators of the highest caliber. I would go to the library, my head spinning regarding a research subject, wondering where to start. I’d consult with a librarian and instantaneously they would lay out the best process and materials in order to get to the root of the research. Often they would suggest correlating subjects to look into to help round out the subject - they would become my mentors and I aspired to model myself after them.

Like I said - there is more to this story. But for today, I just want to say "thank you" to the librarians of the world. You are exquisite, you are brilliant, and we cherish you. Thank you.
